When you finally get down to planning your anniversary, a memorable place to pop the question or a night away near Valentine’s, there’s no room at that romantic inn – or any inn for that matter. Or you’re going to pay through the proverbial nose.
Here’s a deal to consider for something uber special this winter. Sonoma’s Ledson Hotel, which offers a romantic French ambiance on without the attitude, is offering special winter rates starting in December and good through February 28. That means you could get a room on a weekend for $325 with a two-night minimum. Better yet, $295 on weekdays with no two-night minimum. It’s a lot, but what price love?
The boutique hotel’s rooms are 400 square feet of European-style luxury with marble bathrooms, whirlpool tubs, cherrywood furniture, carved wooden ceilings and chanderliers, several overlooking the plaza. Ooh-la-la!

The special includes a private wine tasting at Ledson Winery in Kenwood. So for your mini-European getaway you’ve also got the requisite castle stop covered. Blackout dates apply. 996-9779.

On the opposite side of The Plaza, the historic Sonoma Hotel is offering winter deals for the budget conscious. The same great location on The Plaza within walking distance of tasting rooms, restaurants, boutiques and historic sites, but half the price. Their more modest rooms range from $110 up to $215 for a petite suite. Book on a weeknight for two nights and score a room for $99 to $125, continental breakfast included. It’s located above The Girl and the Fig Restaurant. For information visit sonomahotel.com.
